A dancer’s choice of a dance belt generally depends on two factors: the material and the rise.
As for material, you can choose between cotton or microfiber. In both cases these are soft materials, with more or less padding at the front. Cotton is a natural, breathable material, but modern microfibers and technical fabrics also ensure breathability and are very comfortable.
The second factor, even more important when choosing a dance belt, is the height of the waistband. There are low-rise dance belts—used in contemporary dance, for example, even under culottes or briefs—and, moving up, regular-, mid-, high-, or very-high-rise belts with supportive elastic bands.
