For a proper fitting, several elements are evaluated: foot length (from the heel to the tip of the longest toe), width at the metatarsal area, and toe shape (Egyptian, Greek, or Square). These details, along with the dancer's technical level, foot mobility, and strength, allow us to identify the most suitable pointe shoe.

The hardness of the sole, known as the shank, determines the level of support provided by the shoe. Pointe shoes with a harder shank are often suitable for dancers with very flexible or strong feet, or those at an advanced technical level. A medium or soft shank is generally better suited for less flexible feet or dancers starting pointe work for the first time. However, the choice does not depend solely on skill level—it must always account for individual foot anatomy, strength, and technique.

The fitting service is free and included with the purchase of your pointe shoes. For a first remote fitting, the pointe shoes are purchased at the full list price, without applying any website discounts or promotions. Any shipping costs for returns or exchanges remain the responsibility of the customer.

We carry the main international ballet brands: Bloch, Capezio, Só Dança, Grishko, Gaynor Minden, R-Class, Merlet, and Harmony. Each brand features different design characteristics, such as box shape, shank hardness, and width. Assunta will evaluate these elements based on your foot structure and technical level.

Assunta will also recommend the best accessories for your feet to improve comfort and fit: toe spacers, gel pads, fittings for Greek feet, toe pads, and other useful accessories. Additionally, you will learn to recognize and analyze your foot's characteristics, helping you understand the choices made and make more informed decisions in the future.

The lifespan of pointe shoes depends on training frequency and intensity, foot characteristics, dancer technique, and the shoe model. A professional dancer may wear out a pair of pointe shoes in just a few hours of work, whereas for a student, they can last several weeks or a few months. A correct fitting helps identify a model suited to your foot and usage, improving both support and wearability.
