Choosing a jockstrap as a dancer generally takes two factors into account: the material and the height of the waistband.

Regarding the material, you can choose between cotton or microfiber. In both cases these are soft fabrics, with varying front padding. Cotton is a natural, breathable material, but modern microfibers and technical fabrics also provide breathability and are very comfortable.

The second element, even more important when choosing a dance jockstrap, is the waistband height. There are low-rise jockstraps, used in contemporary dance for example, which can be worn under briefs or underwear, and rising options with regular, mid, high, or very high waists, featuring supportive elastic bands.
